We are raising Tamagotchis again. They just have API keys.
You feed them overnight. You check in the morning to see if they are still alive. You get a little proud when they make it through a run without dying, and a little annoyed when they eat something they were not supposed to eat.
Then you send them out because somebody else has been feeding theirs too and the one that holds together wins until the next trainer walks in with a new model and everyone starts over.
Pokémon already had the language for this. You train it then you send it into a fight. The creature was never the skill.
I am in that loop every day. It is the same one I ran as a kid, except the pet can now write code and eat a file it was not supposed to touch.
